Virgie Lee Rudd

ST. MATTHEWS - Mrs. Virgie Lee Weatherford Rudd, 90, of St. Matthews, widow of Clifton Rudd, died Saturday, January 19, 2013 at the Regional Medical Center in Orangeburg. Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Tuesday at Avinger Funeral Home Chapel in Holly Hill with Rev. Henry Cooper officiating. Burial will follow in the Eutawville Cemetery. Pallbearers will be James Kyzer, Wayne Rucker, Jr., Richie Rucker, James Kemmerlin, Charles Rudd, Jr., and Allen Rudd. Mrs. Rudd was born in Cross, a daughter of the late Lewis Weatherford and Minnie Winningham Weatherford. She was a member of Pressley Memorial Pentecostal Holiness Church and attended Gethsemane Baptist Church. She enjoyed fishing and looked forward to having her family for dinner after church on Sundays. Surviving are daughters, Beatrice Irick and Diane Rucker (Wayne), both of St. Matthews, Patricia Garris (David) of Ruffin, and Mary Owens (Danny) of Santee; sons, Richard Rudd of St. Matthews, Charles Rudd (Ann) of Holly Hill, Leroy Rudd (Bonnie) of Summerville, and Jerry Rudd (Gladys) of New Smyrna, Fla.; 27 grandchildren, 46 great-grandchildren; and 20 great-great-grandchildren. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. this Monday evening at the funeral home. Memorials may be made of Harvest Hope Ministry, 2220 Shop Road, Columbia, SC 29201.
