HOLLY HILL - Samuel "Sammy" Marion Sweatman, 70, of Holly Hill, husband of Aileen Jackson Sweatman, died Friday, October 4, 2013 at his home. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Avinger Funeral Home with Chaplain Robert Beede and Rev. Edward Stiltz officiating. Burial will follow in the Target United Methodist Church Cemetery. Sammy was born in Holly Hill, a son of the late Clarence A. Sweatman and Velma Young Sweatman Griffin. An Army veteran, he retired from Southern Tank as a dispatcher with 33 years of service. Sammy was an avid fisherman and was a member of Target UMC. He was preceded in death by a son, Samuel Sweatman, Jr.; a daughter, Faith Amanda Sweatman; sisters, Faye Sweatman and Mary Baker; and a brother, C.O. Sweatman. In addition to his wife, he is survived by daughters, Mary Ann Heatley (Michael) of Holly Hill, Jennifer Diamond of Summerville, and Lynn Wooten of West Columbia; a son, Matthew Sweatman (Lacey) of Holly Hill; a sister, Ann Smith (Ray) of Eutawville; brothers, Van Sweatman (Carol) of Summerville, and Jimmy Sweatman (Kay) of Bamberg; grandchildren, Chloe and Jacob Heatley, Matthew "Jay" Sweatman, Jr., Courtnie and Kellie Wooten, Ryan Albrighton, Rebekah Diamond, and Jackson Diamond. The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. this Sunday afternoon at the funeral home.
