Mervin M Russell

HOLLY HILL- Mervin M. "Mike" Russell, 72, passed away Saturday, October 21 at St George Healthcare Center. A memorial service will be 4 pm Wednesday, October 25 at Avinger Funeral Home. Family will receive friends after the memorial service until 6 pm. Mr. Russell was born in Holly Hill, a son of the late Kathryn Clifton Russell and Mervin Russell. He was a former member of the South Carolina National Guard and a member of the Vance Masonic Lodge. He was an avid outdoorsman. He is predeceased by a sister, Martha Ann Sheffield. Mr. Russell is survived by daughters, Georgia (Glenn) Holley of Murrells Inlet, Leigh Chavis of Cayce, Katie (Tyson) Hoff of Summerville, Claire (Jason) Gillespie of Mt Pleasant; a son, Mac (Christine) Russell of Cross; sisters, Mary Bilton and Nancy (Jesse) Bilton, both of Holly Hill; 12 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Habitat for Humanity, 121 Habitat St, Americus, Georgia 31709.
