SUMMERVILLE - Mary Roberta "Robbie" Nelson, 66, of the New Hope Community, wife of "Dickie" Chinners, died Saturday, April 27, 2013 at her home. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Monday, at New Hope United Methodist Church with Rev. Randall Horres and Rev. Bob Lee officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Everett Dantzler, Joey Dantzler, Brandon Chinners, Daryl Sweatman, and Scottie Sweatman. A native of Harleyville, Robbie was the daughter of Ross Walter Nelson and Fayre Hilton Nelson. She was a graduate of Winthrop College and Trident Technical College. She was a retired lab technician from the Charleston Naval Shipyard where she worked in Shope134, Safety Code, and Hazardous Materials. After retirement from the shipyard, she worked for Bayer, Inc. Robbie enjoyed crocheting, needle point, fishing and gardening. She was a member of the Red Hat Club in Harleyville, and she loved cats. In addition to her husband, she is survived by a step-daughter, Becky Fenton (Brian) of Summerville; a step-son, Ricky Chinners (Pam) of Walterboro; and step-grandchildren, Tasha Crider, Ciera, Ashton, and Evan Fenton. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. this Sunday at Avinger Funeral Home, 2274 Eutaw Road, Holly Hill. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 5900 Core Rd, Ste 504, N.
