Margaret Hambrick Harris

Margaret Hambrick Harris, 98, entered into eternal rest on February 1, 2025, at Magnolias Assisted Living in Santee, South Carolina. 

She was born April 11, 1926, to the late Lee and Orie Hambrick in Bowman (Elbert County) GA. She was predeceased by her husband of almost 74 years, Edwin Harris, daughter Susan H. Hanes, and brothers Edgar L. and Norris B. Hambrick. 

Survivors include sons Tommy (Rita) of Ormond Beach FL; Bobby (Jean) of Eutawville SC; and Don (Laura) of Cameron, SC; sister Elizabeth H. Brouwer of Grand Rapids MI; Grandchildren David (Leighanne) Harris of Bishop GA, Brian Harris of Watkinsville GA, Bill (Rachelle) Hanes of Meeker OK, Melissa Hanes Cawthorn (Robert) of Ann Arbor MI, Jordan (Ashley) Harris of Cameron SC, Logan (Tiffany) Harris of Cameron SC, and Heather (Quentin) Larson of St. Matthews SC; nine great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews. 

Margaret graduated from Bowman (GA) High School and worked many years as a beautician in Gainesville GA. The family moved to Holly Hill in the late sixties, and she was employed in the Holly Hill district office of the Orangeburg County School system, where she later retired. Retirement did not suit her as she liked to keep busy, so after retirement she worked for the Tri-County Regional Chamber of Commerce in Holly Hill. She especially enjoyed representing the Chamber and helping to organize Chamber events and the annual golf tournament. She loved clothes and you could usually see her dressed impeccably. She thoroughly enjoyed entertaining, especially during the holidays. The travels with Ed to see different places and enjoy the food were also special to her - she did love to go out to eat. She was a Sunday School teacher at First Baptist Church of Holly Hill, and a member of the Ivy Garden Club. Above all, she enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. 

Graveside services will be held Thursday, February 6, 2025, at 11:00 at the Holly Hill Cemetery. 

Casual attire has been requested by the family.
