Leonard Henry "Len" Anny, 70 of Harleyville, South Carolina, passed away on Sunday, July 7, 2024 surrounded by his family.
Born on November 24, 1953 in Lacrosse, Wisconsin Len was a son of the late Anne Synder Vogel and Salvatore Anny.
Len entered the United States Navy in 1973. He served active duty aboard the USS Midway CV41 and aboard the USS Ranger CVA-61 serving in Southeast Asia. Len left active service in 1977 and then served two years active reserve in San Diego, California. After being discharged from the military Len had various occupations until moving to Harleyville. Len worked for GeoCycle until his retirement.
Len loved to fish and hunt when he had the chance and could be found tinkering and fixing things for others. He built model planes and enjoyed the history of World War II.
Len is survived by daughters Marie Haynie (James) of Flagstaff, Arizona and Ruth VanderZwaag (Dan) of Byron, Georgia; grandchildren Levi Matthew, Faith Hadassah, Moriah Grace, Jesiah David Haynie; sisters, Barbara Warner (Larry) of Greenwood, Mary Jo Emig (Bob) of Walnut Creek, California, and Margaret Bagshaw of Winchester Virginia and a brother Sal Anania (Susan) of Harleyville; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Len is preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Michael Jerome Anania.
Services with Military Honors will be held Monday, July 15, 2024 at 1pm at Beaufort National Cemetery.
