Katon Arthur Rush, 91, of Eutawville, entered into eternal rest on Friday, March 12, 2021, in Orangeburg with his son at his side.
Born on December 19, 1929 in Vance, South Carolina, Katon was a son of the late William Inward Rush and Florrie Pritcher Rush.
Katon lived a very long and passionate life serving his country honorably in the United States Army where he was a Cook. His cooking skills rewarded him well as he enjoyed sharing his cooking with family and friends. His family recalls and has enjoyed his catfish stew and homemade biscuits. Katon enjoyed worshiping with his church family at Corinth Baptist Church in Vance where he served as a Deacon. He enjoyed farming and tending to his grapevines, but most of all his passion for hunting and fishing. He will be missed by his loving family and the many friends he made throughout his life.
Katon is preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Betty Banks Rush; his second wife, Lucy Prickett Rush; and his brother, William I. Rush, Jr. Those who will most cherish his memory are his son, Jay Rush and his wife, Ann of Holly Hill, SC; his granddaughters, Ansley Sanderson and her husband, David of Florence, SC, Katlin Brown and her husband, James of Holly Hill, SC and Emma Rush of Columbia, SC; and last but not in any way least, Katon's favorites, the great grandchildren, Katon and Murray Sanderson, and Eliza Brown.
Services to remember and honor Katon's life will be held privately due to Covid 19. The public will be invited to attend the committal services to be held at 3:30 P.M. on Sunday, March 14, 2021 at the Holly Hill Cemetery in Holly Hill. Officiating the services will be Reverend Dan Johnson.
