John "Jack" Luther Hinnant, Jr.

John Luther "Jack" Hinnant, Jr., 94, husband of Virginia Hinnant, passed away Sunday, January 21 at the Veterans Victory House in Walterboro, SC. Funeral services will be 11:00 am Wednesday, January 24at Avinger Funeral Home in Holly Hill, SC with burial following the service in the Eutawville Cemetery in Eutawville, SC. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10:00 am until the time of service. Friends may also call the residence, 205 Hinnant Rd, Eutawville. Mr. Hinnant was born in Eutawville, a son of the late Maudie Minus Hinnant and John Luther Hinnant, Sr. He was a retired farmer of many years. While farming, he received a certificate of recognition from Clemson University in 1986 for the "Best all Around U-Pick Peach Farm". He was an Air Force veteran from World War II where he received the Distinguished Flying Cross Award and Asiatic Pacific Theater Service Medal. Jack was also a charter member of Swamp Fox Rescue Squad and Boat Club, a member of the First Baptist Church of Eutawville, the Lions Club; and former assistant chief of Eutawville Volunteer Fire Department. Mr. Hinnant enjoyed farming, hunting, being out on the lake and loved his grandchildren. Surviving are his wife; sons, John L. (Johnny) Hinnant (Teresa) and Ken Hinnant, both of Eutawville; and grandchildren, John Mylan Hinnant and Jade Allison Hinnant. He was predeceased by his sister, Lois Hinnant.
