Jean H. Hill

COLUMBIA - Mrs. Jean Hartzog Hill, 82, of Columbia, formerly of Holly Hill, widow of I. F. "Fox" Hill, Jr., died Tuesday, January 26, 2016 in a Columbia hospital. A memorial service will be 12 noon Saturday at Avinger Funeral Home in Holly Hill with Rev. Michael Ritter officiating. Burial will follow in the Holly Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends before the service beginning at 11 a.m. Jean was born in Bowman, the daughter of the late Gordon Lewis Hartzog and Adelle McGrew Hartzog Weathers. She was the former owner of Holly Hill Florist and Gift Shop in Holly Hill and continued her love of flowers by designing arrangements for her friends, family, and church after selling the shop. Jean was a member of Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church in Indian Land, SC, and was preceded in death by a step-sister, Peggy Hart; and a step-brother, Lewis Weathers. Surviving are a daughter, Lisa Toliver (Mark) of Charlotte; a son, Ike Hill (Kaye) of Brunson; a step-brother, Marvin Weathers, of Florida; a special sister, Vera Ford of Charleston; grandchildren, Cher Rogers (Buck) of Mt. Pleasant, Ali Jones (Nathan) of Columbia, Fox Hill (Jennifer) of St. George, Stephanie Schoembs (Kyle) of Washington, DC, and Dailey Toliver of Austin, TX; great-grandchildren, Kellan and Ella Ruth Jones, Jaxen and Cade Rogers, and Amelia Adelle Schoembs.
