Janice Teaster Davis

Janice Teaster Davis 84 of Eutawville, passed away surrounded by her family on Friday, January 24, 2025. 

Ms. Janice, as she was known by the community, was born on February 2, 1940, in Spartanburg County, the daughter of the late Pauline and Foy Teaster.

Janice lived a full life centered around her family and her faith. She spent her time outside of home serving her friends and community. After graduating from North Charleston High School, she went to work for the Medical University of South Carolina and soon met Carlos Davis her husband of almost 63 years. They moved to Eutawville where she raised her children and taught many generations of kindergarteners at Holly Hill Primary as a teacher assistant. After retiring from the public-school system, she worked many years as the Holly Hill Librarian, which was the perfect job for her. Besides her family and friends, she most loved reading, and working at the library allowed her to surround herself daily with literature and also observe the many generations of children she had taught in kindergarten come through the library. One of her greatest joys was seeing her former students bring their children into the library to share the joy of reading. 

Janice was also an accomplished Gardner and her green thumb always brought out the beauty of anything she planted in her numerous flower beds.

Janice had a truly caring and loving soul, she loved her church and community but most of all she loved her family, especially her grandchildren. The smile and light on her face upon seeing them was evident and she showered us with love every chance she could.

Janice is preceded in death by her parents, Foy and Pauline Teaster, and her brothers Don Teaster and Michael Teaster.

Janice is survived by her spouse Carlos Davis, daughters Carla Davis, and Cindy Willhoit (David), and son Mark Davis (Tina). She was “Granny” to seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren and Aunt Janice to her special nephews and nieces.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, January 30, 2025, from 2 pm-3 pm at the First Baptist Church of Eutawville located at 507 Factory Rd Eutawville 29048. A memorial service will follow at 3 pm.
