James Lambert “Jimmy” Bremer, 88, of Bamberg, passed away on September 17, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on March 18, 1936, in McBaine, Missouri, to Theodore Bremer and Annabelle Lambert Bremer.
Jimmy was married to his beloved wife, Binnie Sue Clary Bremer, for 70 years. He graduated from Carlisle Military School Class of 1953. Jimmy was a dedicated member of Bamberg First Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon, Sunday School teacher, and sang in the choir. Jimmy was also a member of the Gideons.
He served his country proudly for eight years in the United States Marine Corps. Jimmy later worked as a plant manager at Bamberg Manufacturing and retired from Allendale County Prison. Additionally, he was a radio announcer at WWBD radio station in Bamberg along with his brother-in-law Bob Clary.
In his free time, Jimmy enjoyed fishing, metal detecting, and especially printing and displaying pictures of his family, who were the light of his life.
He is survived by his wife, Binnie Sue, and their daughter, Joni Beck (Bobby) and a sister Ruth Russell (Jim). He was a proud grandfather to Justin Bremer, William Bremer (Ahrean), Jason Bremer, Joshua Bremer, Eric Beck (Aimee), Bethany Wingo (Tim), Tripp Bremer (Savannah), and Sam Beck. He is also survived by his daughter-in-law, Russell Bremer. Jimmy was also blessed with numerous great-grandchildren: Caleb (Abby), Logan, Rylan, Ayven, Gemma, Jacob, Emory, Everett, Ellory, Lilianna, and Aaron. His sister-in-law, Libby Bowzard, and nieces Kay Clary, Jill Latimer (David), Cindy Mills (Frank) and their mother Connie Clary, LeAnne Troutman (Troy), and Lauren Gibson (Scott) will remember him fondly. He is also survived by six great-nieces and nephews, and two great-great-nephews.
Jimmy was predeceased by his sons, Jim Bremer Jr. and Jeff Bremer; his brother-in-laws, Bob Clary and Johnny Bowzard; and his nephew, Winn Clary.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Bamberg First Baptist Church , PO Box 355, Bamberg, SC 29003.
Visitation will be held Saturday, September 28, 2024, from 12-1PM at Bamberg First Baptist Church, 11823 Heritage Hwy. A Celebration of Life will follow at 1PM.
