Ida Lou Hanks, 98, of Holly Hill, formerly of Honea Path, died Monday, January 16, 2017 at home. A funeral service will be 3 p.m. Thursday at Avinger Funeral Home in Holly Hill with Rev. Terry Martin and Rev. Ken Hay officiating. Burial will be 1 p.m. Friday in the Keowee Baptist Church Cemetery, 4640 Keowee Road, Honea Path, with Rev. Richard Ashley officiating. Miss Hanks was born in Abbeville County, a daughter of the late Thomas Herbert Hanks and Elizabeth Pearman Hanks. She was retired from the Honea Path Shirt Factory and was a life-long member of Keowee Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by sisters, Ora Bell Hanks, Elma Hanks, and Mary Hanks; brothers, Guy Hanks, Herman Hanks, Herbert A. 'Duck' Hanks and J.A. 'Driggers' Hanks. Surviving are; a niece, Francine (Howard) West of the Providence Community, Holly Hill; a great-nephew, Frank (Lisa) West of St. George; a great-niece, Alice (Ward) Avinger of Holly Hill; a great-great-niece, Abbie West of St. George; and great-great-nephews, Trey and Hanks Avinger of Holly Hill. The family will receive friends after the service.
