Eula Beatrice "Bea" Hughes Mitchum

Eula Beatrice Mitchum, 91, of Santee passed away on August 11th after a long and fulfilling life. 

Bea was a long time member of Corinth Baptist Church in Holly Hill and the former owner of Jack and Jill Nursery. Bea was born on June 25, 1933 in Gray Court, SC to the late Toy and Beatrice Hughes. She was the oldest of five children. Bea loved all the little children that came into her life starting with her two beautiful children, then all of her nursery children, her amazing grandchildren who gave her the name "Gan Gan", and most recently her precious great-grandchildren. Bea would never turn down a shopping trip to Belk and was always up for a good sale. She had a love for clothes, jewelry, and antiques. Bea's eight layer birthday cakes were something everyone in the family treasured when it was their turn.

Bea is survived by her loving husband of 65 years, Pinckney; her son, Tripp (Joy) Mitchum; her grandchildren, Laurence (Madi) Livingston, Ruby Mitchum, and Josie Mitchum; her great grandchildren, Sterling and Murphy Livingston; her sisters, Sybil (Bobby) Brunson and Brenda (Noel) Jones; her brother, Preston Hughes. She also leaves behind several beloved nieces and nephews. Bea was predeceased by her sister, Sadie Clayton, and her beloved daughter, Kimberly Livingston.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, August 14, 2024 at Corinth Baptist, 1910 Camden Road, Holly Hill. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends immediately following the burial in the fellowship hall. 

Memorial donations can be made to Corinth Baptist Church. The family would also like to extend many thanks to the staff and volunteers of Grove Park Hospice for their support, kindness, and compassion they showed to Bea during some of her hardest days. Each time they came her day was always a little brighter. They quickly became part of her family.
