Funeral services for Dorothy Shuler Dantzler, 92 widow of Frederick Whitfield Dantzler, of Holly Hill will be held at the Holly Hill Methodist Church Friday, July 19, 2024 at 10am with the Rev. John Elmore and Cooper Stonestreet officiating. Burial will follow in the Holly Hill Cemetery.
Dorothy was born in the Providence Community, a daughter of the late John Ebbie Shuler and Kathleen Elizabeth Whetsell Shuler. She graduated from Providence High School. Dorothy married her childhood sweetheart in the Providence Methodist Church on January 2, 1951. She worked as a substitute clerk in the Holly Hill Post Office for 28 years and enjoyed meeting the public. Dorothy was a member of the Holly Hill Methodist Church since 1954. She was a member of United Methodist Women, Chapel Sunday School Class, The Classics, and Woman of the Year. Dorothy taught Sunday School for many years and enjoyed serving her church in various ways. She was a past member of the Ivy Garden Club and the Pierian Book Club. Dorothy and Fredrick were very active with the Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts of the Holly Hill Community. They were also supporters of Grace Home – Hebron Colony, in Vance. They especially enjoyed entertaining friends in their home, gardening and sharing flowers and plants with others. Dorothy and Frederick were dedicated to making the world a better and more beautiful place because they were a part of it.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Frederick W. Dantzler, brothers; The Rev. Dr. Martin Shuler, J. Vernon Shuler, J.E. Shuler; sister Agnes Shuler Shealy; niece Dorothy Carol Shuler and nephews, Connor Henry and Dr. Claude Shuler.
Survivors include her son, Frederick W. Dantzler, Jr. and his wife Lisa of Simpsonville; grandsons, Anthony (Rachel) Dantzler and David Dantzler; great granddaughter Kylie Breland Dantzler; nieces Kathleen Kennerly, Beth Wilcox, Kay Ornelas, Deedee Kullenberg, and Ann Clemmer; nephews, John Shealy, David Shealy, Ed Henry; sister-in-law, Claudia Shuler and Goddaughter, Debra Miller Burritt.
The family will receive friends Thursday, July 18, 2024 from 5-7PM at Avinger Funeral Home and at other times at the residence.
