HARLEYVILLE - Derrick "Junior" Jacob Risher, Jr., 69, of Harleyville, husband of Pansy Chubb Risher, passed away Friday, September 23, 2016 at his home where he wanted to be with family and friends. Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Monday at Bethel United Methodist Church with Rev. Melvin Bell, Rev. Terry Hiers and Rev. Bob Lee officiating. Entombment, with Masonic Rites, will follow in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Kris Risher, Jay Risher, Robert Risher, Matt Pendarvis, Hank Mixon, Travis Chubb, Charlie Sanders, Michael Muckelvaney. Honorary pallbearers will be Bobby Carter, Doug Gore, Doug Hardee, and Billy Chubb. Junior was born in Dorchester County, a son of the late Derrick Jacob Risher, Sr. and Maria Louise Gayle Risher. He was the owner of Continental Construction, and Maintenance, Risher Mining and Trucking, and Derrick's Country Kitchen. Junior was a member of Bethel UMC, Egeria Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite, Omar Shrine Temple, and a charter member of the Good Cheer Hunting Club. He enjoyed deer hunting, fishing, and spending time at the "ranch" with family and friends. Surviving are his wife of almost 51 years, Pansy of Harleyville; daughter, Sheri (Charlie) Sanders of Goose Creek; son, Kris (Ginny) Risher of Harleyville; sisters, Minnie (Jack) Stroble of St. George, and Nancy Pendarvis of Harleyville; brother, Glenn (Rhonda) Risher of Harleyville; grandchildren, Jenna Risher, Jay Risher, Haley Risher, and Kristopher Risher, and Michael Muckelvaney all of Harleyville, Justin Parker and Matthew Taunton, both of Moncks Corner; a great-grandson, Holden Clark; and a host of nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Avinger Funeral Home in Holly Hill, and other times at the family home. Memorials may be made to Bethel UMC, C/O Mrs. D.J.
