Derotha C. ThompsonHOLLY HILL- Mrs. Derotha Cartrette Thompson, 90, of Holly Hill, wife of Frank Thompson, died Friday, August 5, 2011 at her home. Funeral Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Avinger Funeral Home Chapel, Holly Hill, with the Rev. Dwight Brazell officiating. Burial will be 1 p.m. in the Florence National Cemetery, Florence, SC. Mrs. Thompson was born December 11, 1920 in Columbus County, NC, a daughter of the late John Calvin Cartrette and Annie Mae Carteret Cartrette. She enjoyed traveling, was a retired owner/partner of D D Transport and was a great Christian who lived it every day. She is predeceased by son, Jason Paul Cartrette. Survivors include, husband of the home; daughters, Earline (Jim) Toth of Sutter, Ca, Pearl McGhee of Holly Hill and Meryl (Marvin) Stamp-Staller of Holly Hill; a brother, Irvin (Edna) Cartrette of Gastonia, NC; 28 grandchildren; 56 great grandchildren; 39 great great grandchildren; and 4 great-great-great-grandchildren.
