Daniel Franklin Thompson

HOLLY HILL- Daniel Franklin "Pop" Thompson, 82, husband of Barbara Turnage Hall Thompson, passed away Monday, November 20, 2017 at Trident Hospital. Funeral service will be 11am Wednesday, November 22 at Avinger Funeral Home with Bob Kronyak officiating. Burial will be 1pm Friday, November 24 at the Florence National Cemetery with military honors. The family will receive friends from 5 pm until 7pm Tuesday, November 21 at the funeral home. Mr. Thompson was born in Whiteville, NC a son of the late Sadie Pope Thompson and Daniel Thompson. He was a retired truck driver, a Baptist, and a Navy veteran of the Korean War. Mr. Thompson was predeceased by a daughter, Pearl Mcghee; a son Paul Cartrette; and a brother, Joe Thompson. Mr. Thompson is survived by his wife of the home; daughters, Earlene "Sue" (Jim) Toth of Colorado Springs, CO and Meryl Stamp (Marvin) Staller of Holly Hill; a sister, Annette Davis of Whiteville, NC; and a number of grandchildren.
