Aaron Dale Mears, 38, of the Providence Community, Holly Hill, died October 13, 2018. He is the son of Gayle Lancaster Rush and Emory Rush and the late Homer D. Mears Jr.
Dale graduated from Holly Hill Academy and attended the College of Charleston. He inherited his musical ability and talent from the “Lancaster Side” of the family. His grandfather, Boyd, was the baritone in the “Old Providence Quartet.” Dale was a guitarist and drummer and became a part of a number of musical groups over the years.
Dale was a young man with an infectious smile and enjoyed laughing often. He enjoyed a swim each afternoon after work with his best friend, Ollie.
Dale is survived by four brothers, Chris Mears of Holly Hill, David Mears of Rock Hill, Chad (Jessica) Rush of Goose Creek and Derek Rush of Walterboro; aunts and uncles, Imogene Christmas of Myrtle Beach, Glenn and Kay Lancaster of Elloree, Karen and Chuck Cuttino of Elloree, Gil and Sara Rush of Elloree, Barbara and Neil Breland of Augusta and Harry and Annette Mears of Eutawville. He loved his nieces and nephew, and they all loved him. He was very close to his cousin, Terri Austin and her husband, Greg.
As a young fellow, he was reluctant to share his mother. However, as he grew into the man he became, the love for his adopted Dad grew to everlasting.
