Carolyn Bowzard Hutto

Carolyn Bowzard Hutto, 81 of Vance, South Carolina passed away at the Oaks of Orangeburg Tuesday, October 10, 2023.

Born February 20, 1942 Carolyn was the daughter of the late Lee Bowzard and Mae Salisbury Bowzard.

Carolyn attended the public schools in Holly Hill and later graduated from cosmetology school in Columbia. She worked for many years at the Holly Hill Beauty Shop and later at Santee Furniture World and Chuck’s Pharmacy. She also was a volunteer for the Holly Hill Rescue Squad. Carolyn enjoyed playing bridge with her bridge groups and going to Sanibel Island in Florida.  She was a member of Corinth Baptist Church.

Carolyn is survived by a daughter, Susan Wimberly Hitchcock (Stuart); granddaughters, Megan Mizell (Douglas), Rebecca Mizell (Daniel), Jennifer Hitchcock Turner, and Candace Hitchcock Jones (Dalton); sister-in-law, Libby Bowzard; brother-in-law, Don Marden; son-in-law, Barry Mizell; great granddaughters Maggie and Sophia Tindall, Raelynn and Baxleigh Turner; great grandsons, Dallas Dickson and Maddox Jones; special nieces, LeAnne Troutman (Troy) and their children Spencer and Maelee and Lauren Gibson (Scott) and their son Tanner, and her nephews, Lee, Don Jr., David, and Ken Marden and their families; her beloved pet Koda; and the extended Hutto family.

Carolyn was predeceased in death by her parents; her husband, Lamar Hutto: a daughter, Lisa Wimberly Mizell; brother, Johnny Bowzard; sister, Ann Bowzard Marden; and the father of her children, Robert Wimberly.

A memorial service will be held Sunday, November 12, 2023, at 2:30PM at Corinth Baptist Church, 1940 Camden Rd., Holly Hill.   Burial will follow in the Holly Hill Cemetery.

Memorials in Carolyn’s memory may be made to St. Jude’s Children Research Hospital or MUSC Shawn Jenkins Children’s Hospital.
