Betty Ruth Jones Hardee

Mrs. Betty Ruth Jones Hardee, age 80, passed away on Sunday, April 21, 2024, at MUSC in Orangeburg, South Carolina. Born on November 14, 1943, in Clayton, Alabama, she was the daughter of the late Ben Tarpley Jones and the late Alma Lynn Jones.

Mrs. Hardee was a homemaker who loved her flower gardening, crafting, sewing and her little dogs. As a young woman, she owned a small plant nursery, was a seamstress and a craft vendor for many years.

Survivors include her two daughters; Wanda H. Kelly (Richard) of Lexington, South Carolina and Lisa H. Jakobsen (Allan) of Front Royal, Virginia; her son, Mel Hardee of Holly Hill; grandchildren, Tina Spence, Richard Lanier, Elsa Jakobsen and Luke Jakobsen; her great-grandchildren, Cole Spence and Percy Jakobsen; her brother, Charles R. Jones (Gail) of Abbeville, Alabama and her beloved dog “Scooter”.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Hardee was predeceased by her husband of 41 years, Norwood Gleaton Hardee, brother, Lloyd Bynum and her nephew James Jones.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, April 25, 2024, at Twin City Memorial Gardens, Loris with Reverend Mack Hutson officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the graveside service on Thursday at Twin City Memorial Gardens.
