Anna Amelia Dowdy (Grandmother Ann) age 101, died peacefully Tuesday September 21,2021 in Little River SC. Grandmother Ann lived a full and joyous life surrounded by her family and loved ones.
Grandmother Ann was born January 4, 1920, in Beaver Falls, PA to Anna and John Lewis. She was raised in Beaver Falls, PA and later moved to Tampa Florida where she resided with her husband, Edward Dowdy (Pappa Ed). She has resided in SC with her son and granddaughter for the last 10 years.
Grandmother Ann proudly served her Country in the United States Coastguard from 1944 to 1946 and received an honorable discharge. She in turn spent the remainder of her career in banking.
Grandmother Ann is survived by her son Larry Williams, Granddaughter Karla P. Brown (Butch Brown), Grandson Travis Williams (Sommer Williams), 3 great grandchildren, Bailey Williams, Davis Williams, Tucker Williams and Daughter in Law, Ruth Williams. She was predeceased by her loving husband Edward Dowdy, son, Robert “Bob” Williams, Her beloved parents and her 3 brothers.
Grandmother Ann loved her life and her family. She dedicated her life to Christ through her every endeavor and was a true testament to all who knew her, her great love of our Lord.
She will be laid to rest in Tampa Florida in a small private ceremony, surrounded by family. Any memorials can be made to River Park Senior Living Care, Little River SC and Agape Hospice, Myrtle Beach SC.
The family would like to sincerely Thank each and every one of you for your love and prayers and especially a sincere heartfelt thank you to all those who loved Grandmother Ann. She was and is a truly special woman to all that she touched.
